Our history

Founded in December 1965 by José Miquel Candela, the company is dedicated to the manufacture and marketing of all types of wafers for the nougat, marzipan, pastry and general confectionery industry.

In 2003, José Luis, Matilde, Marisa and Inmaculada Miquel Verdú (second generation) decided to change the production method and invest in continuous wafer manufacturing. Until then, our wafers had been handcrafted in sheets. This was a turning point in our company, with advances in terms of our production performance and the quality and safety of our wafers. It was a huge feat and it took longer than a year of work to produce wafers using machinery completely unfamiliar to us and which was not designed for the purpose.

José Luis Miquel Sirvent (third generation) took the reins from his predecessors, developing and improving the machinery and facilities to achieve a product with a quality far superior to the rest.

In 2017, he introduced a new line and we began to make smooth wafer, a product that was completely new to us. Applying the experience gained from over 20 years at the company, he succeeded in developing this new product and thereby diversifying the production of our wafers into other markets, such as coloured and flavoured wafers which are mainly used for printing with edible ink.

In 2025, we celebrate 60 years, with the same hope and satisfaction of the past and of the objectives achieved.
